Medicap Pharmacy is proud to announce the results of the 2020 flu shot campaign. By the end of last year, they were able to provide 80,000 meals to the Food Bank of Iowa, with the donations staying right in the local community! This is the fourth year for the partnership, and it has grown every year.
“Medicap’s Flu Shot campaign provides safety twofold to food insecure Iowans,” said Michelle Book, President and CEO of Food Bank of Iowa. “By combining proper nutrition and timely vaccinations, our most vulnerable citizens are better equipped to meet the demands of a challenging Iowa winter.”
Medicap Pharmacy believes it is important to be involved in the community and this was an excellent way to help residents in the same communities their pharmacies are located. Through the partnership with the Food Bank of Iowa, Medicap Pharmacy donated 12 meals locally for every flu shot given. The 20 participating Central Iowa locations raised a total of $20,000 which will provide 80,000 meals over the 11 Iowa counties.
